Snow, lots of ice, then more snow...
So I feel like I have not posted FOREVER, even though it's only been a couple of days. On Monday night it was expected to snow throughout the night leaving several inches of snow. Having had a bad headache, I went to bed at 9:00 Monday night, so I woke up at like 3am, wide awake. Knowing it was supposed to snow, I looked outside, and there was a bit of a covering, but when I turned on the tv, our county was still open for Tuesday. Being wide awake, I watched tv for about an hour, and then forced myself to go back to bed as I would have to be at work the next morning. I did fall back to sleep until about 5:30, and our schools had been cancelled, so no work for me!!! Josh still had to go to work, so he took the Jeep because there was no way I was going out in that stuff. Here are some pictures of Tuesday:
Tuesday morning when we woke up
Later in the afternoon
Zander playing in the snow later on in the afternoon. It was funny to watch because it had been icing and sleeting during the day, so the snow was hard on top. Zander would take a few steps and then sink down into the snow!!!Sometime late evening, early night, the ice storm began, and by 7:30 school was cancelled again for Wednesday, again no work for me!! Total number of snow days this school year so far: 7! Compared to 1 in my 4 previous years of teaching!!! The first five "snow days" were not really snow days, but "wind days" from the wind storm we experienced back in September which was remnants of Hurricane Ike. Josh got some awesome pictures of the ice: This is what I did most of the day Tuesday on my day off: It's pretty cute but I really wish I would have saved it for later this week, because we lost cable sometime Tuesday evening. I finished my picture(It's paint by number, I'm so not that talented when it comes to art!!!) around 2 in the morning. As I laid down in my bed, there was a horrible noise. It honestly sounded as if all of the ice on our roof had fallen off into the backyard. I got up to check it out, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the backyard, but as I was checking it out, I again heard the noise, this time coming from out front. I went out front and the noises began, and it seemed it did not stop. Limbs and trees behind the houses across the street from us were crackling and breaking off like crazy. Not only that but it looked as though we were having a lightning storm with so many power lines going down, with the occasional very loud boom from transformers blowing up. It was amazing to me. I was just standing on my porch wondering how neighbors were able to sleep through this. I tried to get Josh up, but all he did was tell me he could hear from the bedroom and turned over and began snoring once again!!! I have this video I want to share. I've tried several times to get this to load but it will not. So when I figure out how to load it I will!
I finally went to bed, but have no idea what time it was as I was just in awe and amazed at what I was seeing and hearing. Wednesday morning, as Josh got up to get ready for work, I was in between sleep and awake, when I heard the crackling sound, as I layed there, I thought, that sounds really, really close. As I realized the noise was very close, and that a branch was getting ready to fall on the roof right over me, I jumped out of bed, and have never moved so quickly in my life!! Josh was just laughing as I ran into the hallway, at how fast I was moving!!! Luckily the limb of the tree in our next door neighbors yard did not hit our house, it didn't even really come that close to the house, even though it sounded as it was!!! So we were lucky as many in our city and state and states surrounding us are without power including my parents and Jen, my sister. We only lost our cable. And we have no damage to the house or cars, unlike some of our neighbors: Check out this power line or cable line, not sure which one it is... Look how low to the ground it was. Apparently their are power lines down like this all over the place, making it very dangerous to even be out of the house at all After the ice subsided Wednesday morning, the snow began once again. I didn't get any pictures of the snow coming down, as I fell asleep on the couch after Josh left for work and didn't wake up until noon. I opened the front door to find this: A comparison from Tuesday to Wednesday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Some other pretty cool pictures I got yesterday: The ice on every thing is amazing!! Our bushes in front of the house did not fare to well, but one was dead already and the other dieing, so we were already replacing them anyway Compare this picture on Wednesday to the picture above from Tuesday and compare how much the ice made the trees bend over!!! So that's how this week has been to me. The cable came back on this afternoon around 4! I haven't done much at all except sleep!!! I'm getting spoiled with the mid-day naps, Don't know how I will do on Monday when it's back to work and no option to take a nap!!! So we are off until Monday. Too many schools in the county are without electricity. Plus with all the downed and low power lines it would be to dangerous to have kids waiting at bus stops. So that is a total of 9 days off this year. We will have to make 7 of those up as the we have made 2 of the days up already. We will be in school at the beginning of June! While it's nice to have the time off now; when June hits I will be wishing that we were at home on vacation! It's stayed in the mid to upper 20's here since the storm. Expecting light snow tomorrow but the weather men are saying nothing that should accumlate. It's supposed to get up to the low to mid-40's by Sunday so that will begin the thawing out process. Sorry this post is so lengthy!! I hopeyou enjoy some of the pictures that I shared with you!!!

Here is my baby at 10 weeks!!! It's starting to look more human with the little fingers and toes, and no more tail!!! I have to say that I guess I've been pretty lucky as I keep reading that the morning sickness should be lessening at this point in the pregnancy and I still have yet to experience any!!! But I want to take this quote from the website pregnancy.com, because it is so true:
Your Pregnancy: Week 10
"The roller coaster of nausea may almost be over, but the roller coaster of emotions (happy, sad, crying, mad; and that's all in the last 30 seconds) is just revving up. No one will understand why Friends reruns are making you cry, so don't bother trying to explain it."
I have to put that on here because it happened tonight. I should be extremely ecstatic right now. I finally got my new car, which I will post a picture of later! But as we left Josh's parents tonight from showing off the car, I was really hungry. We decided to go to Steak-n-Shake, but the place was packed, so then we were going to go to O'Charley's.. Packed as well. We decided to go to Mr. Gatti's/Gatti Land because it's a buffet and it would be quick, but as we pulled into the parking lot, it too was packed. So we decided just to pick something up. Josh said he was just going to White Castle. Instead of saying that I didn't want that I just cried. He was like what is wrong with you? All I could do was say just go to White Castle if that's what you want, It will be fine. I was kind of mad at him for saying he was going there. And the fact that I ALWAYS have to make the decision. Any other time I would have been like no, I'm not feeling like White Castle, but the problem was, nothing sounded that great to me, and I was just so hungry. Anyway, Josh ended up just coming home and we ordered a pizza, which was good enough for me!
And another reason I posted the quote was because for the past week or two I have really been missing the show Friends. This is my favorite show EVER. I mean, like really wishing it was still on and like there is an empty part of my life because it doesn't come on anymore. I have even been staying up to watch it at night from 11:30-12:30 when FOX plays two episodes each night. I haven't had any tears from watching it yet, but just a deep yearning for the show to return with new episodes.I mean there's just not a show on tv like it anymore. Sure I have my shows and How I Met Your Mother is very funny and I enjoy it a lot but it's no Friends.
Anyway, enough of my rambling on about that, onto something else!!!
Like I mentioned before I got my new car!!!! Here it is:
Isn't she beautiful??? After almost three months without a car, I have one now, and it is officially ours!!! Josh went back to the bank with all the paperwork signed this morning and so I am now allowing myself to be excited and enjoy it! So I have to give a big thanks to my DADDY for helping us out with this! If it weren't for him we wouldn't have been able to do it. It's a 2007 Jeep Commander, Steel Metallic Blue is the color. It's so big, I was nervous to drive it when he picked me up from work last night. I didn't test drive it, because it was a bit icy in places when we went to do so. But it was awesome, I don't even realize how big it really is. We bought it from Carmax. They were really great to work with, and I would have to recommend to everyone looking for a car if there's one around you, check them out!!
We went to T.G.I.Friday's to celebrate with a good dinner last night. I have to say if you go anytime soon try the Chicken Parmesan Sliders. They were delicious!
I guess I will quit my ramblings for tonight. Tomorrow is a day of cleaning if I can bring myself to do it. Laundry has gotten piled up as well as the dishes. Then just doing my lesson plans for the week. The next 9 weeks are going to be long!!! No break what so ever, just 9 5-day weeks in a row. This time of year there aren't many breaks, but we usually get a couple of days in February without the students for conferences and a professional development day, but due to the wind storm that hit Louisville in the fall, they have decided to make those make-up days. It doesn't sound pleasing right now, but I guess when we actually get out before June I will be thankful!!!
Have a great Sunday!!!

I can't remember
This is a picture of my hubby and me on our honeymoon in June last year. I am really wishing I was there right now!!!
O.k, so my plan for this post was to put up the illustration of my baby at 9 weeks, only I for some reason can not figure out how to do it. I was able to do it last week at 8 weeks. But I have tried for the past 2 nights to get the html code and can not and have no recollection of how I did it a week ago. So if anyone can help me out, please do. I really do feel stupid!!!!
Everything is going well here. On Sunday I was feeling a cold coming on, but got through the day fine. Monday I woke up, and did not feel good at all. I literally slept all day long. I would get up for an hour, then sleep for two, pretty much all day long. Tuesday I woke up and felt so much better. So I am very thankful that we had Monday off, it gave me a chance to relax and rest, which is apparently what was needed.
This week has had its ups and downs. Still working on getting my car. Wednesday Josh and my dad got to the bank only to find out there had been a mix up and we were not able to get the check until Thursday. Thursday, check in our hand, Josh gets a call from the dealership saying that there had been a recall and that they would have it back by Today and we could pick it up in the evening. Of course when Josh called this evening, they still didn't have it back... They will definitely have it for us tomorrow. I will believe it when I am driving off of the car lot keys in ignition and no salesmen in the car with me. It's so aggravating, I just want a car, you know?
Tuesday was a great day. We were allowed to watch the inauguration throughout the day at work. My students were really interested and involved in it. They kept asking questions about where they were and who people were. It was really fun. We had a little coloring activity book of Obama and his life history. They really really enjoyed that as well, so it was an awesome day, as it should have been. I hope 20 years down the road they will be telling kids where they were on that wonderful day in our country's history. I know I will be able to!!!!
The rest of the week though, man I don't know if my patience is growing thinner or if I'm just aggravated more easily. Because I am about to lose it at work. A couple of my students seem to have rallied together and said let's make her day miserable. It's alright though, I've got back up with my next door neighbor, and I've written a couple of referrals. Then my coworker, every time she talks I just want to tell her to shut up. It's like everything that comes out of her mouth is just nonsense. Hopefully this will go away, because if it doesn't I don't know how I'm going to make it the rest of the year.
Well that's really all that's going on around here. UofL was ranked #12 in the ESPN poll and #9 in the AP poll, so I was extremely happy and surprised by the results!!! Plus they won again last night by 19 against Rutgers, so that is always great news!!!
If I ever figure out how to post my picture of the 9 week baby, I will do so!!! Have a great FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cards and Steelers are on a Roll!!!
I hope this post turns out. There are a lot of pictures and all of them are coming out in codes, so hopefully I move the right ones where they are supposed to be!!!
Well... My weekend... FABULOUS!!!! First of all Saturday night as I've mentioned a time or two, the #20 UofL Cardinals beat #1 Pittsburgh!!!! I had to watch the game by myself because Josh had to work late. Another stressful game. But they did it. They played their hearts out and won 69-63. No rankings out yet, as that was the first thing I checked this morning!!! I am saying UofL will now be ranked about
15th, even though they should be a little higher, I'm keeping my hopes low so I don't get disappointed. I wish I would have taken some pictures, but it never crossed my game while the game was on, you'll see in a moment what I mean. I'm very proud and excited for the Cards!!! Next game is against Rutgers on Wednesday!!!
Sunday was a full day. We went all around looking at cars, but you wouldn't believe how many are closed on Sunday, even when the website says they are open!!! Anyway we ended up at Carmax and found a 2007 Jeep Commander right at our price. Keep your fingers crossed that we get it. We have to figure out how Josh and Dad are going to get to the bank at the same time to sign for the check and Carmax won't hold the car for us. So it's just a lot of hopes that it still is there when we do find the chance!! It's an awesome car. It's bigger than I was looking at before, but the deal on it we can't beat!!!!
Then when we got home and prepared for the Steelers game. Well I did anyway...
When I finally woke him up with about 10 minutes till the game, we took some photos...
This would be a really good picture if my eyes were open, something about the flash of my camera, all of the pictures of me have my eyes closed.
Then our true Steeler pride coming out...
My favorite player, Hines Ward, making the most awesome catch of the game
Sadly, he hurt his knee on the play, tried to come back in a couple plays later, stayed in for one or two plays and then didn't return.
The first touchdown of the game, before the score was 6-0, then Holmes ran it in to make it 13-0
13-7 was the halftime score!!!! It was a good half, but a whole other half to make it through.
As the second half started, Zander even got interested
The second half started and we kind of chilled, it was too close to be excited, more like stressful was the word. We coudn't seem to do anything with the ball, but continued to stop the Ravens as well. At one point the Steelers made a field goal, and then the Ravens scored a touchdown. So the score was 16-14 Steelers.
Josh was becoming more and more aggravated and restless. Ravens had the ball, we had to stop them.
Josh's favorite player is Troy Polamalu, he is a safety on defense
I told Josh I felt a Polamalu interception coming soon, and here is what happened:
Not only did he intercept but he ran it in for the touchdown!!!!
Here is what followed inside my house:
and then Josh saying giving me props for calling it...
So it is settled, Pittsburgh Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals in the Superbowl in two weeks, February 1st!
I kept telling people how funny it was that on Saturday night during the basketball game I was pulling for Pittsburgh to lose, but on Sunday I would be pulling for Pittsburgh to win. Something even more ironic that my dad pointed out last night:
On Saturday I was rooting for the Cardinals to beat Pittsburgh... In two weeks I will be rooting for Pittsburgh to beat the Cardinals. Funny, isn't it???
Anyway like I said it was a wonderful weekend, things are good. At some time during the game, there was noise outside so Josh opened the door to see what it was and this is what was there:
And this morning at 8:30:
Pretty isn't it? I don't think anymore is expected, but at least we can say we had a day of snow this winter!
Hope I didn't bore you all with my breakdown of the game!!! Have a great day!!

Some wonderful, amazing, most AWESOME news!!!!!!!!!!!
On the Monday before my surgery I received a phone call at work from the doctor's office. I WAS PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-4 weeks at the time. I couldn't believe it. I honestly was in shock for the better part of 3 days. Heck, my doctor told me that the polyp was probably blocking something.
But nope, it's true!! I am having a baby. I went for my first visit yesterday, and after the exam and discussing everything I am now around 8 weeks!!! I'll have a baby in my arms in 7 months and Josh and I could not be more thrilled. This is what we have been waiting for since our wedding. And just at the time we don't think it will be possible for a while longer... It happened. I guess it's like they say, stop trying and it will happen.
My due date is August 22nd! Jen's birthday is August 17th, and she seems to think that I will have the baby on her birthday!!!
Like I said, words can't describe exactly how I feel. This really is what I've wanted for as long as I can remember. To be a mom and have a wonderful family. And Josh and I adding to our family. He has just been so awesome. Spoiling me so much (more than he already does!!) I can really get used to this!!!
No crazy symptoms yet as of yet. Boobs are the worst of it, and from what I hear, it's only the beginning for that. No morning sickness so far (knock on wood), and today was the first day I can honestly say that I am exhausted to the point where I felt like I could have laid my head down on my desk at work by 12 noon and slept like a baby... I don't think that that would have been such a good idea though, so I made it through.
Everyone is being so awesome. I told my boss yesterday when I got to work after my doctor's appointment. She said she knew... But she was awesome about it. She asked me when my due date was and I told her and she was like alright, so right at the beginning of the school year, but then she was like that's fine it's great. I believe she is genuinely happy for me. She really is a great boss (except for when she makes me come back to work after a doctor's appointment!!!!!!!!) The rest of my colleagues just gushed all over me today, and it's just a really great feeling, knowing everyone is so happy for Josh and I and so excited as well!!!
Our families are so excited too!!! My younger sister and Josh's sister are actually pregnant as well. They are both due in the spring. So our family is just going to be loaded with babies.

Cards are on a Roll!!!!!!!!!
So, now I'm just playing around on the computer while Josh plays XBOX and decided to post. I promise that this won't turn into a sports post, but it's just exciting to see my 2 favorite teams doing so well, especially UofL when Football is winding down. So I'm sure there will be updates every once in a while during the season.

A Great Weekend for my Sports Teams!!!
So I haven't done much this weekend. Our heat went out Tuesday night. It actually went out Christmas Eve night as well, and our landlord had someone come over and look at, and he restarted it or whatever, so it worked for about two weeks. So we are waiting to have acutal heat again. They are just replacing the whole furnace so who knows when they will do that. Hopefully early this week, because by the middle of the week, the temperature is supposed to be down to 1 digits. While the space heaters we have are fine now, I just don't know how well they will work if it gets that cold.
We also went and tried to find a car Saturday after the landlord and heater guy left. No luck. I swear you think these companies who are is so much trouble would be willing to make a deal, but nope, no luck so far. Josh is going to go some places Tuesday. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday at 10:30 so he took the day off. I figured my boss would tell me to take the day off, especially after I told her how long I've had to wait the past several times I went. But no, she said o.k, just get here when you can. I should have just called in, me and big mouth!!!! So hopefully Josh will have some luck on his own because I don't know how much of this not having a car thing I can handle. It's been about 2 months now. I don't know how my mom and dad did it when the four of us were little.
Anyway, besides that it's been an excellent weekend on the sports front. I am a huge University of Louisville basketball fan. I have always been. I even got season tickets for a couple years, but then Pitino came and the prices became outrageous!! That's o.k, I can watch them on t.v. UofL beat Villanova last night!! It was pretty exciting as it came down to the very end. I wanted to find a clip of the last seconds to share but I couldn't find any of the Villanova game.
The final score was 61-60!!
And then we have the Pittsburgh Steelers!!! I was never, ever an NFL fan. Then I met Josh. I would have to say within two years of meeting Josh, I was huge Steelers fan. So I watched the first half of the game by myself while Josh was still at work. Josh got home right as the second half started. So we watched it and it was a great game. We won, so only two more games, and we could have another Superbowl championship!!!
Well, my intentions in this post was to have some clips of UofL and Steelers games, but I can't figure out how to do that. So that will be all for now. Have a great week!!!!

We must find the cure NOW!!!
I did not have a good day today.
Several months ago I was introduced to Coleman. A 4-year old boy fighting cancer. I was introduced to his carepage through my sister and have followed his story through his mother's words. Through Coleman's page I have also been introduced to several other children fighting the monster. One of those little boys was Dante, who was 2 years old. While I have never met these children or their family, I feel very close to them as I have fallen in love with them and prayed many prayers for them to get better and defeat the disease.
At work today on my planning when I checked my personal email I received this email on Dante's page:
"Dante earned his wings at 8:33 am this morning."
My heart was instantly heavy with grief and sadness for this family. He was a beautiful young boy who was taken from his mother and father too early.
I just checked my email again and this is the email I opened:
"Coleman was an amazing child of God and we were so honored to be chosen as his parents. He left this world at 10:45 last night- he fought HARD until the very end, not wanting to give up, but finally letting go. He was a warrior and a hero our hearts will forever miss. We had the most glorious five years together- a gift we will never forget."
--Peggy Larson (Coleman's Mom)
Again, my heart has completely gone heavy with grief and sadness, but also with anger. These boys were so young. I do not understand why this evil exists. Our world must do stand up against the monster and we must find a way to defeat cancer once and for all.
Please pray for Coleman and Dante's parents and families.

I made it through the day!!!
So after a 16 day vacation, I had to get up this morning and return myself to work. I was really, really dreading going. After 4 years of teaching, I can honestly say this is the first year that I did not want to go back at all. Sure in years past there's always that oh just a couple more days, but there's also the feeling of yeah!! I get to see my kiddos!!! Not this year. I was so not feeling up to it. Last night, I even asked Josh if this could be my last year of working, and if I could change my career to stay-at-home wife. He said no, then made me feel better by saying he'd think about it. I know it's really never going to happen, but it was worth a shot, right???
Anyway, once I got to school this morning everything just flowed right along. It really was good to see all my boys again. I guess I had missed them all just a little bit more than I had expected. We had a really good day, and all of them did such a nice job following directions and getting there work done. By 1:30 though I was exhausted. Good thing I have my planning period from 1:50-2:35. It gave me a chance to sit down and relax and get some of the work done.
The worst part of the day was that I had to stay at work til 6:30, cause we only have one car right now, and Josh got held up at work. It's o.k., he took me to Tumbleweed and we had a wonderful dinner. It's quarter til 9, and I feel like I could go to my bed and sleep through the night. Since everything on tv is reruns again I think I just may!!!

Where's Zander???
I need to tell you a little bit more about Zander before you read the rest of this blog. I have already mentioned that he is very spoiled, sitting on the love seat and all that. He also has to go where ever I go. I mean EVERYWHERE. If I walk to the kitchen to get a drink, Zander walks to the kitchen with me. If I walk to the bedroom to put something away, Zander is right there next to me. If I stand up to stretch without leaving the room, Zander too is there next to me!!! Oh yeah, and if I use the bathroom, My wonderful dog is right there with me!! I know it's very sweet, but sometimes annoying. Most of the time I don't even realize it cause it's just the usual, you know??
Yep, under he had wrapped himself somehow around the covers. As not to have to lie on the floor, but also so that he was covered. I got this picture, but then my camera died. I wish I could have gotten more, cause when I sat back down he laid back down and went to sleep which was too cute!! I thought I would share this with you cause I found it pretty funny. Hope you do too!!

The 2008 AWARDS
1) DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR?
That would have to go to Kate and Arleta!! Not that I do a lot of drinking, yet when I'm with these girls, I do find myself having a few (o.k. several) drinks!!
2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (longest friend)
That would have to go to my sis Jen. We've been friends for well 29 years now.
3) NEWCOMER AWARD-COOLEST NEWEST FRIEND?
I'm going to have to go with Lindsey that I work with. This is the third year Lindsey and I have worked together, but towards the end of the school year last year we really started talking and hanging out at work. Then she came to my bachelerotte party, and she's just one cool gal!!!
4) FRIEND WHO CAME BACK INTO YOUR LIFE?
Wow, there has actually been quite a few. I had my 15 year 8th grade reunion over the summer and so I reconnected with several people from there. We have stayed in touch mostly through Myspace and Facebook.
Then there are also my cousins who live in California and Texas whom I have reconnected with because of Myspace and Facebook!!!
5) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?
Getting married of course!!!
6) LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?
When my car broke down on the highway, and then got broken into while it was sitting on the highway.
So I guess I had a pretty good year, cause this really isn't so bad.

Josh and I on New Year's Eve 2008
MY BEST FRIEND, AND SIS
This is my big sis, Jen. Yep, she is older, even though she doesn't look like it. She is also my best friend in the whole world. Don't know what I would do without her! Josh and I love hanging out with her and her family (check out the picture below).
Jen was the best matron of honor ever!!
Jen with her AWESOME family!!
This is Mr. T. My awesome nephew. Josh and I love having him over and hanging out with us... Even though it hasn't happened in a while. I'll have to plan a date for that to happen very soon!!!
This is me with my brother and sisters. Of course you know Jen already. Erika and Wes are the others. They are both younger than me. Wes is the baby! My siblings mean everything to me!
This is my hilarious brother-in-law Jim. He is Jen's husband. Josh and Jim get along very well. Sometimes to well, when they decide to gang up and make fun of Jen and me.
These are our lovely pets, who really are spoiled like children. Read on to find out more about each one!!
This is Zander. He is a four year old Jack Russell. He is a really good dog, and smart too. As you can probably tell, he is very spoiled. He has his own assigned seat on the love seat.
This is Rudy. She too is spoiled. She is almost 6 years old. Anyone who comes in to our house is instantly greeted by Rudy wanting some attention!!
This is Nelly (yep Rudy's in the back, cause Nelly was getting attention and she wasn't). Nelly and Rudy are sisters, but really nothing alike. Nelly is laid back and stays away from strangers. In this pic she is laying on the computer box, which she has barely moved from since Christmas day when I opened it. I don't think I have the heart to throw the box away!!
Well, there are just some of my family members, and people I thought I would introduce you to as I may have posts on them, so now you know who they are!!!
And remember that this is my first post with pictures. I did a preview and some things are not lined up, but I think it all still makes sense!!
